Grave history lessons

HISTORIC COLUMBIA CEMETERY TOURS: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Ave. Tour options include Secrets from the Grave at 7:30 to allow attendees to study the iconography symbols found on many of the markers and headstones in the cemetery. The Moonlight Cemetery tours, at 8 and 8:30 p.m., discuss the lives, burials, cemetery plots and tombstones of families and prominent citizens from Columbia’s 19th and 20th centuries. LOW CALORIE CRACKED CANDY MOSAIC ART WORKSHOP: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 19 and 26, at the Columbia Parks and Recreation Art Center, 1928 Calhoun St. Two-session workshop focuses on making a 12-inch-by-12-inch mosaic piece from stained glass; patterns will be supplied. $90, includes all materials and supplies.
