Fort Jackson doctors have confirmed a total of 20 H1N1, or "swine", flu cases since April, and are awaiting lab test results on 11 patients who tested positive for Type A influenza, to determine the exact strain they have.
About 80 soldiers in an Army Reserve unit based at Fort Jackson have been called up for active duty in a yearlong tour in Kuwait. The 310th Human Resources Sustainment Center, which held its farewell ceremony over the weekend, will head overseas after four to six weeks of training at a Wisconsin base.
