OPERATIONS – OPERATIONS DIRECTOR: Key leadership position overseeing 24/7 printing operation and facilities; responsible for building the capacity of workforce and fulfilling production obligations to continuously improve product quality, drive commercial work and revenue, and provide excellent service to customers. The State Media Company is a major regional printing operation with a complex schedule of daily, weekly and commercial printing jobs. The Operations Director, working with managers and other direct reports, will plan, organize and administer the functional areas of Pressroom, Mailroom, Transportation, Production/Building Maintenance, and Safety, and oversee key relationships with service contractors. Liaison among Operations departments and other divisions, and between day and night Operations. Serves as a member of the local executive team. Supports a diverse workforce and safe, productive workplace.  Advises the Regional Operations VP and executives and managers of The State Media Company on operational issues. ADVERTISING – DIGITAL SALES SPECIALIST (Spelling, Math): Sells online advertising schedules based on advertisers’ marketing needs. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basis mathematical calculations. Requirements include two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a media company. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research a plus. Sells all products in The State Media Company's portfolio (print and online) to achieve revenue goals by: developing and servicing existing, new and inactive accounts in assigned territory; maintaining awareness of local competitive conditions; and improving market share. Requirements include two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a media company. College degree preferred. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow ads from creation to publication to meet or exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate ability to organize individual work activities, as well as to contribute in a team-based environment. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research is a plus. TRANSPORTATION – PART-TIME TRUCK DRIVER: Loads, transports and unloads bulk quantities of newspapers to drop points.  Requirements include a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), excellent driving record, mathematical aptitude, good communication skills and proven job stability. Must be able to lift bundles weighing up to 65 lbs. Applicants should furnish a current copy of their SC Department of Motor Vehicles 10-year driving record at time of application. AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT – SENIOR AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER: This position has on-site responsibility for audience growth of the newspaper’s entire product portfolio, including home delivery, single copy, classroom copies, targeted print products, digital subscriptions and engagement with digital offerings. The position also will develop, implement and measure operational practices, billing practices and customer service practices to ensure meeting or exceeding consumer expectations. Additional responsibilities include identifying, developing and delivering on various financial and audience goals and executing plans to address declines and/or shortfalls. Position requires bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 2-4 years related experience and/or training; at least 5 years of management-level experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work history should demonstrate strong, successful leadership ability and solid understanding of complexities of newspaper circulation, audience development, sales, distribution and marketing. ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT RELATIONSHIP SPECIALIST (Math, Spelling):  Provides customer service and support for advertising customers in collaboration with Account Executives to meet revenue goals and increase advertiser satisfaction with service and results. Creates compelling proposals and presentations based on customer needs assessments. Processes transactions and performs day-to-day maintenance of customer accounts, including conducting follow-up with customers on a regular basis and across all platforms. Measures, monitors and builds customer relationships via phone and occasionally in person with Account Executives on sales calls. Collaborates with Account Executives on marketing opportunities and new products/programs. Works closely with customers and team to facilitate proposals, correspondence, resolution of customer issues and to schedule appointments. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with the public and staff. Must be able to work independently and in a team, multi-tasking while under pressure and tight deadlines. Requires problem-solving and analytical abilities, as well as ability to perform mathematical functions. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet and database applications required. Minimum typing speed 40 WPM. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in business or marketing preferred. Prior sales experience desired.
