 NEWSROOM – AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT EDITOR: Leads newsroom efforts to build local audience and engagement levels with thestate.com and other web products.  Supervises online reporters and web producers.  Coaches and helps develop newsroom staff‘s effectiveness with social media, curation, crowdsourcing and other forms of digital engagement.  Oversees online content, manages branded social media accounts, develops online products.  Current knowledge of social media tools and techniques required. Must be proficient in publishing, uploading and modifying online content with previous newsroom writing, editing and management experience.  Bachelor’s degree and experience managing online product preferred. ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT RELATIONSHIP SPECIALIST (Spelling, Math, Typing): Provides customer service and support for advertising customers in collaboration with Account Executives to meet revenue goals and increase advertiser satisfaction with service and results. Creates compelling proposals and presentations based on customer needs assessments. Processes transactions and performs day-to-day maintenance of customer accounts, including conducting follow-up with customers on a regular basis and across all platforms. Measures, monitors and builds customer relationships via phone and occasionally in person with Account Executives on sales calls. Collaborates with Account Executives on marketing opportunities and new products/programs. Works closely with customers and team to facilitate proposals, correspondence, resolution of customer issues and to schedule appointments.  Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with the public and staff.  Must be able to work independently and in a team, multi-tasking while under pressure and tight deadlines. Requires problem-solving and analytical abilities, as well as ability to perform mathematical functions. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet and database applications required. Minimum typing speed 40 WPM. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in business or marketing preferred. Prior sales experience desired. PRODUCTION – IMAGING TECHNICIAN (Math):Performs a variety of prepress support activities including outputting press plates and maintaining a smooth workflow by producing all jobs correctly according to press needs. Requires knowledge of standard computer peripherals and mechanical aptitude to perform general maintenance of plate lines.  High school diploma or equivalent required; technical college, network support or information technology experience preferred.  One year graphic arts experience desired. Candidate must be able to perform mathematical calculations, use computer mouse, keyboard, digitizing table, and other input devices.  Position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Spelling, Math):Sells advertising schedules based on advertisers' marketing needs. Sells all products in The State Media Company's portfolio (print and online) to achieve revenue goals by: developing and servicing existing, new and inactive accounts in assigned territory; maintaining awareness of local competitive conditions; and improving market share. Requirements include two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a media company. College degree preferred. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow ads from creation to publication to meet or exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate ability to organize individual work activities, as well as to contribute in a team-based environment. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research is a plus. AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT – SENIOR AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER: This position has on-site responsibility for audience growth of the newspaper’s entire product portfolio, including home delivery, single copy, classroom copies, targeted print products, digital subscriptions and engagement with digital offerings. The position also will develop, implement and measure operational practices, billing practices and customer service practices to ensure meeting or exceeding consumer expectations. Additional responsibilities include identifying, developing and delivering on various financial and audience goals and executing plans to address declines and/or shortfalls. Position requires bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 2-4 years related experience and/or training; at least 5 years of management-level experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work history should demonstrate strong, successful leadership ability and solid understanding of complexities of newspaper circulation, audience development, sales, distribution and marketing.
