 ADVERTISING – MEDIA PLANNER (Math, Spelling, Typing):  Secures appointments with current and prospective advertisers and creates compelling presentations based on needs analysis.  Lead person for all pre-sale account support functions for all categories of advertising sales. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers.  Must demonstrate firm grasp of marketing concepts and strategies and ability to develop knowledge about marketing solutions offered by The State Media Company as well as rates, deadlines, and technical capabilities in order to service accounts accurately.  Must be able to work independently and in a team, multi-tasking while under pressure and tight deadlines.  Bachelor's degree required; advertising, marketing or business coursework a plus. Two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing preferred.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other packaged programs), e-mail, internet and database applications required.  Minimum typing speed 40 WPM. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; overtime may be required based on workload.  POSTING DATE:  07/17/2014


NEWSROOM – AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT EDITOR: Leads newsroom efforts to build local audience and engagement levels with and other web products.  Supervises online reporters and web producers.  Coaches and helps develop newsroom staff‘s effectiveness with social media, curation, crowdsourcing and other forms of digital engagement.  Oversees online content, manages branded social media accounts, develops online products.  Current knowledge of social media tools and techniques required. Must be proficient in publishing, uploading and modifying online content with previous newsroom writing, editing and management experience.  Bachelor’s degree and experience managing online product preferred. Work schedule is 3-11 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.  POSTING DATE:  07/02/2014


ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Spelling, Math):Sells advertising schedules based on advertisers' marketing needs. Sells all products in The State Media Company's portfolio (print and online) to achieve revenue goals by: developing and servicing existing, new and inactive accounts in assigned territory; maintaining awareness of local competitive conditions; and improving market share. Requirements include two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a media company. College degree preferred. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow ads from creation to publication to meet or exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate ability to organize individual work activities, as well as to contribute in a team-based environment. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research is a plus. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.   POSTING DATE:  04/15/2014
