Public art blossoms near West Columbia riverfront

Finishing touches are being put on a mural of daylilies in West Columbia that city officials hope becomes the talk of the town and well beyond. It’s part of an effort to attract more interest to shops and neighborhoods along the city’s share of the Congaree River.

Man in handcuffs runs from police on Ocean Boulevard

A man led police on a chase to a cheering crowd along Ocean Boulevard on Sunday, all while in handcuffs. The officers had the suspect, whose name and charges were not available, in handcuffs and were about to put him on a gurney when he bolted.
