Why Richland is SC’s most pro-Clinton county

Richland County provided nearly an eighth of South Carolina’s votes for Democratic President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, more than any other S.C. county. It also gave Clinton a huge boost in her landslide February primary victory over U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. With its high numbers of African-Americans and college graduates, two key demographics for Clinton, the county likely will give her another push against GOP nominee Donald Trump in November.

Womanhood is an election issue — and that’s bad news for Trump

Hillary Clinton had anticipated that raising the Alicia Machado incident would get a rise out of Trump. He helped focus a spotlight on one of the more unsavory facets of his personality: an ugly, unrepentant sexism that would have been inappropriate even in the “Mad Men” era — and is light-years beyond the pale today.
