EMERGENCY RESPONSE TIMELINE

The Emergency Services call center in Brunswick County, N.C., received 20 calls within a couple of minutes about the beach house fire that killed six USC students and one Clemson student Sunday.

The call volume was so heavy that all five dispatchers were answering the calls, Tom Rogers, deputy director of Emergency Services, said. While one was answering a call, another was dispatching units.

7:00:51: Incident in waiting queue indicating the dispatcher has begun typing incident into the system

7:01:22: Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department dispatched

7:02:19: Shallotte Point Fire Department and Rescue Squad dispatched

7:02:20: Sunset Beach Fire Department and Rescue Squad dispatched

7:03:10: Call saying fire visible through roof, people possibly inside

7:04:16: Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department en route

7:05:01: Call that male jumped out of window

7:05:42: Call that several people entrapped

7:06:12: Dispatchers requested all available units

7:06:30: Call that people in house screaming

7:06:47: Notification that airlink available and on standby

7:06:51: Grissettown Fire Department dispatched

7:07:37: Ocean Isle Fire Department arrives on scene

7:08:17: Calabash Fire Department dispatched

7:09:51: Josh Smith, fire marshal on call, paged

7:09:51: Shallotte Point Fire Department en route

7:09:56: Sunset Beach Fire Department en route

7:15:50: Call advising 15 people in residence and only six accounted for

7:11:02: Calabash Fire Department en route

7:17:18: Grissettown Fire Department en route

7:17:32: Sunset Beach Fire Department arrives on scene

7:18:12: Fire Marshal Josh Smith dispatched

7:18:51: Shallotte Point Fire Department arrives on scene

7:24:50: Calabash Fire Department arrives on scene

7:28:24: Grissettown Fire Department arrives on scene

7:36:28: Dispatch asked to contact the State Bureau of Investigation for an investigator
