A South Carolina Education Lottery game paid off handsomely for an Aiken County man.

The man, who requested anonymity, said he has having "the best month of" his life after learning he won the $1 million prize in the Cash Bonanza Bonus, a scratch-off game.

He purchased the ticket at Ye Old Grocery Store in North Augusta, which will receive a $10,000 lottery retailer bonus.

"I scratched the ticket at the store," the winner said. "But I just couldn’t believe I really won $1 million. I called my wife and told her about the lottery ticket, but she did believe it either."

According to the lottery commission, the couple just became parents to twin sons. They also have a 2-year-old child.

First order of business will be to "take a wonderful vacation," the winner said.

Cash Bonanza Bonus tickets cost $10. There are approximately $23 million in total prizes remaining in the game.
