MYRTLE BEACH -- The Horry County Humane Society's interim Executive Director Andree Frohmann said she resigned from her position this morning, the same day the shelter reopened after being closed for a month due to a canine distemper outbreak.
Earlier today, Frohmann told The Sun News the reopening went smoothly.
She resigned later in the morning.
``I think we're all excited to have the animals back and to get back to work,'' she said Thursday.
Rita Rhodes, director of operation at the shelter, said the shelter will remain open until 6 p.m. today and she has been overseeing its operations.
As of 12:30 p.m., Rhodes said she had not been contacted by the shelter's Board of Directors about Frohmann's resignation.
The Horry County Police animal control division resumed animal drop-offs on Tuesday and the Conway Police animal control division was scheduled to resume normal service today.
