The fun stuff that comes with winning a U.S. Open Championship still hasn’t stopped for former Clemson golfer Lucas Glover.

Glover – who made it known during his run to the title at Bethpage Black State Park on Long Island that he is, and has been, a big New York Yankees fan – will throw out the first pitch for tonight’s game at the new Yankee Stadium when the American League East Division leader plays host to the Texas Rangers. The game has a 7:05 p.m. start, and chances are S.C. TV stations will pick up footage from New York’s YES network.

After Glover’s victory in June over Phil Mickelson, Ricky Barnes and David Duval, he was asked in an NBC-TV interview at the 18th green about his affection for the Bronx Bombers.

“Come on, New York,” he said, addressing the Open crowd, “we got to get the Yankees going.”

The team must’ve been listening; as of Tuesday, New York has a 7-game lead over second-place Boston.
