Verizon Wireless' answer to the iPhone - the Droid - goes on sale Friday for $199 (with a $100 mail-in rebate and two-year contract).

The phone includes a slide-out keyboard, the ability to run multiple apps simultaneously and mapping software that could challenge standalone GPS devices.
