Man cutting one tree is hit, killed by another

MONCKS CORNER - A man trimming a tree in eastern South Carolina has died when he was struck by a second tree.

The (Charleston) Post and Courier reported 46-year-old Donald Twiggs died Thursday when he was struck about five miles south of Moncks Corner.

Berkeley County Deputy Coroner Bill Salisbury said the accident occurred shortly before noon when Twiggs was trimming a tree and a nearby tree fell, pinning him. Salisbury said Twiggs died from a blow to the head.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been asked to investigate.
