City of Charleston to buy site where 9 firefighters died

Charleston City Council has agreed to buy the site where nine firefighters died last year battling a blaze at a furniture store.

Council agreed Tuesday to borrow $1.875 million to buy the Sofa Super Store site where the firefighters were killed June 18, The (Charleston) Post and Courier reported.
