Corrections officer arrested in drug case

A state Department of Corrections officer was arrested Wednesday on charges she accepted drugs from an undercover agent and promised to give them to an inmate.

Warrants charge Charley Nicole Calvert, 22, of Hodges, with misconduct in office, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and attempting to furnish contraband.

She was booked into the Laurens County Detention Center.

Calvert met the undercover State Law Enforcement Division agent at a fast-food restaurant in Laurens County and agreed to take the drugs into Perry Correctional Institution for $300, the warrant alleges.
