New Columbia chief must get S.C. training

Columbia Police Chief Tandy Carter will have to complete three weeks of training on S.C. law in order to be certified as a police officer.

The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy recognized Carter’s training from North Carolina but required him to take the additional three weeks in order to become certified here. Carter, who has one year to take the course, said he plans to take it with some incoming CPD recruits.
