Lexington authorities are looking for a man wanted on suspicion of intentionally starting a mobile home fire.

David Thomas Day, 49, of Barco Court, Lexington, is wanted for arrest on charges of second-degree arson, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department said. He is suspected of starting a fire Friday that severely damaged a home on Sandy Springs Lane.

Day also is wanted on a family court bench warrant issued May 8 because he did not make court-ordered child support payments in Lexington County, the department said.

Day is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, the department said.

The mobile home belonged to Day's girlfriend, and burned following a dispute between the two, according to the department.

An investigation by the Lexington County Fire Investigation Team found that the fire started with rolls of toilet paper unrolled and spread throughout the home. Investigators said Day was the last person seen leaving the home before the fire, which caused about $15,000 in damage.

Anyone with information about Day or where he is can call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 785-8230 or Crime Stoppers of the Midlands at (888) 559-TIPS (8477). Tipsters also can provide information online at the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site or the Crime Stoppers Web site.
