Child left on bus; officials investigating

A 7-year-old girl was left for about two hours Thursday on a Richland 2 bus after returning to Killian Elementary from a Boys & Girls Club field trip, district spokeswoman Theresa Riley said.

The girl was found at about 3:30 p.m., was taken to a hospital for evaluation and appeared to be fine, Riley said.

There were three chaperones and a bus driver on the trip, Riley said.

Riley did not know how many students were on the bus or where it went.

Richland County sheriff’s deputies were notified of the incident, department spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Myers said.
