The Richland Northeast High GAP Choir will represent South Carolina when it performs Thursday at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference.

Choirs from North Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi also will perform at the Gospel Extravaganza, part of the three-day conference of African-American leaders from around the country.

Gap Choir adviser Joyce Abel said she contacted South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn's office five years ago about performing at the conference. She said the office assured her then that the choir would be considered for a spot at some point in the future.
