It’s the candy man!
“ROALD DAHL’S WILLY WONKA JUNIOR”: Friday through March 23 at Village Square Theatre, 105 Caughman Road, Lexington. Enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays; 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays; and 3 p.m. Sundays. PLANETS FOR THE PEOPLE: 6-10 p.m. Saturday at Hunter-Gatherer Brewery & Ale House, 900 Main St. Join the State Museum and members of the Midlands Astronomy Club to explore the sky and observe other planets and the moon. Gatherings depend on the weather, so if its cloudy and looks like rain Saturday afternoon, check the museum’s Facebook page to make sure the program is still on.
OPENING DAY CEREMONIES: Trenholm Little League baseball, noon Saturday at Trenholm Park, 3900 Covenant Road. Former Gamecock quarterback and “Voice of the Gamecocks” Todd Ellis will throw out the first pitch.
