This fun-filled celebration will give guests a closer look at ways they can make a positive impact on the environment. Partygoers can engage in interactive and exciting educational activities. Up on the roof
ROOFTOP RHYTHMS: 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday on the rooftop of Richland Mall, Beltline Boulevard and Forest Drive. Free, family-friendly event will feature children’s activities, live music and fare from local restaurants (beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available for sale — cash only, please). This week’s performance will feature the Tams, 6-9 p.m.; bring your lawn chairs and blankets; no coolers or pets. Hosted and funded by the city of Forest Acres. http://farooftop.com
A day for the kids
KIDS DAY OF LEXINGTON: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Virginia Hylton Park, 111 Maiden Lane (behind Lexington Town Hall). Free event will focus on educating families on health, safety and environmental issues. Hosted by Palmetto Chiropractic Center. There will be spinal, speech, dental and hearing screenings, child ID kits, Internet safety tips, bike safety clinics, children’s activities, live entertainment, food and more. All proceeds raised will benefit the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter and Dickerson Center for Children. (803) 356-8554
