Garfunkel to appear at the Art Museum

SINGER/SONGWRITER ART GARFUNKEL: 8 p.m. Friday at the Columbia Museum of Art, 1515 Main St. Show will feature songs, stories and a Q&A period. All seats are general admission. Tickets are $65; doors open at 7 p.m. No backpacks or outside food or drink will be allowed in the museum. Tickets available at columbiamuseum.org

MEN’S HEALTH DAY: 7-11 a.m. June 7 at Palmetto Health Baptist, 1501 Sumter St., ground-floor auditorium. The day will begin with health screenings from 7-9 a.m. Those who qualify can receive free screenings for prostate cancer, diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI and body fat. During breakfast, which begins at 9 a.m., health professionals will discuss a variety of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testosterone health, stroke and diabetes. Ready, set, read!

STORYFEST SC KICK-OFF: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 7 at the State Museum, 301 Gervais St. Summer reading program exposes families to children’s authors and the art of storytelling featured at all of South Carolina’s public libraries. The day’s events will feature presentations by authors Nina Crews and Brian Lies, storytelling, crafts, face painting, visits from popular characters, photography fun for young adults with a green screen booth and props. Sponsored by the State Library.
