The Columbia Museum of Art and Richland Library have collaborated on a summer exhibit featuring the works of children’s author and illustrator Anita Lobel, who will visit Columbia later this month for lectures and book-signing events.

“All the World’s a Stage: Anita Lobel” showcases more than 70 works and 30 books created by Lobel during her 40-year career. The collection includes her early work as a textile designer in the early 1960s, as well as some of her best-known books, such as “Alison’s Zinnia,” “Away From Home,” “Nini Here and There” and “Sven’s Bridge.” Her illustrations in “On Market Street” were awarded Caldecott Honor recognition, and her memoir as a childhood concentration camp survivor — “No Pretty Pictures: A Child of War” — was a National Book Award finalist.

“All the World’s a Stage” is on view through Aug. 17 in the Columbia Museum of Art Wells Fargo Education Gallery and in the gallery at Richland Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public at both locations. The Columbia Museum of Art is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday. The museum is closed Monday. Richland Library is open seven days a week. Hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2-6 p.m. Sunday.

On June 20 at 6:30 p.m., Lobel will give a presentation to an adult audience at the Richland Library, followed by a book signing. The following day, June 21, she will talk to adults and children of all ages about her works, first at Richland Library at 1 p.m., then at the Columbia Museum of Art at 2:15 p.m., followed by a book signing.
