SUMMER SOULSTICE HIGH-SPEED BIKE RACE WEEKEND: Qualifier for State Criterium Championships, 9 a.m. Saturday at 5 Links Crossing Drive in Cobblestone Park, Blythewood. Amateur races open to all skill levels. Cobblestone Circuit races begin at 8:45 a.m. Sunday. At 5 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 pm. Ferillo’s follow-up

WINE AND UNWIND LECTURE: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lourie Center, 1650 Park Circle (Maxcy Gregg Park). Film producer/director Bud Ferillo will present a screening of his documentary “When the Bough Breaks,” an examination of the state of literacy in South Carolina; a Q&A session will follow. Ferillo also produced and directed the 2006 documentary “Corridor of Shame: The Neglect of South Carolina’s Rural Schools,” which addressed the struggle to seek funding for an adequate education in rural S.C.
