Early entertainment picks for the weekend

The Volunteers of the U.S. Army Field Band will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Finlay Park. The six-member band will perform contemporary and patriotic music – just the thing to kick off an early Fourth of July weekend.

Friday

Friday Night Fish Fry

Music, games, face painting, demonstrations and community information. Eat in or takeout, dinners are $10 and include fish, coleslaw or pasta salad, sweet potato fries, bread, iced tea or lemonade; sandwiches with tea or lemonade, $4.50. 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Eau Claire Community Council, 830 Wildwood Ave. Tickets available at http://eauclairecommunity.org or call (803) 420-2106. Proceeds will benefit neighborhood action programs of the Eau Claire Community Council.

Family Fun Day at State Farmers Market

Visit the Market Pavilion inside the Corbett Building to shop for local products during the grand opening of Five Rivers Market, an indoor farmers and specialty market. The SC. Dept. of Agriculture’s commodity boards will have free samples of Certified SC products such as local peanuts, peaches, watermelon, pork and beef, while supplies last. 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the State Farmers Market, 3483 Charleston Highway, West Columbia.
