EDVENTURE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: Visit EdVenture’s living exhibit, Blooming Butterflies and explore the world of these fascinating insects! A 2,500-square-foot enclosed structure was designed just for butterflies. It is filled with dozens of species of trees and plants that support hundreds of butterflies from more than 20 different species native to the Southeast U.S. Be sure to check out the Bloom Room and observe chrysalises and emerging butterflies. The exhibit is open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays. The museum is at 211 Gervais St. Sundays. Free with museum admission. (803) 779-3100; http://edventure.org

TOWN OF BLYTHEWOOD “DOKO” RODEO: Friday at Blythewood Community Center Park along Community Road. The event starts at 6 p.m. with live music featuring Trent Jeffcoat. International Professional Rodeo starts at 8 p.m. with competition in eight rodeo events. You can test your skills by riding a mechanical bull. Food vendors and children’s activities.
