First Thursday on Main
Don’t miss First Thursdays on Main, 6-10 p.m. Thursday from City Hall to the State House (the 1200 to 1700 blocks of Main Street). This month, be sure to catch the art fire sale and beer tasting at Grapes and Gallery, Palmetto Opera Night at Villa Tronco, art by Noelle Brault at Wine Down on Main, and much, much more. Countdown to kindergarten
It’s almost that time again. Come to the Countdown to Kindergarten at EdVenture on Friday. Rising kindergartners and their families will enjoy free admission to the museum, costumed characters, games, face painting, school supplies, free dental and vision screenings for children, information booths and resources for parents on keeping kids safe and healthy. This annual event Friday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 9 is designed to provide free medical checks and eye care exams for those who cannot afford it. Hours are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m.-noon at the State Fairgrounds. Gates open at 5 a.m. each morning of the event. Patients should enter through Gate 6 along George Rogers Boulevard.
