Toy soldiers at the ready
SOUTHEASTERN TOY SOLDIER SHOW: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the State Museum, 301 Gervais St. Toy soldier collectors and vendors will be on hand with miniature figures from all periods of history. Re-enactors will present a living history time line from the Revolutionary War to World War II. Free with museum admission of $7 for adults, $6 for age 62 and older and $5 for ages 3-12.
Have a heart
PINK BOW BENEFIT: 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Senate’s End, 300 Senate St. Charity fundraiser to spread awareness tips and tools to diagnose and cope with the life of a loved one with a congenital heart defect. Event will feature a silent auction, live entertainment fashion show, refreshments, cash bar, prizes, surprises and more. Cocktail attire. Advance tickets are $30, $15 for children at http://eventbrite.com; $30/$20 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association’s Midlands Chapter, the cardiac unit of the Children’s Bustamante Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica, and selected charities.
It’s a pool party
