Give To Gain Gala
An evening of glitz, glamor, dining, dancing and entertainment to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina. Donations help build additional programs, continue year-round competitions and cover travel costs for athletes and volunteer coach. 7-11 p.m. Thursday at Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center, 200 Stoneridge Drive. Forrest Wood Cup tournament
The Forrest Wood Cup bass fishing tournament comes to Lake Murray this weekend.
Takeoffs are at 7 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Dreher Island State Park. The FLW Expo is 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. each day at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, with the weigh-in at 5 p.m.
The expo will have fishing contests, exhibitions and demonstrations, a barbecue competition and entertainment, including Jeremey Comb on Friday, John Wesley Satterfield on Saturday and a free show headlined by Rodney Atkins at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Windows to New Worlds
The new additions to the State Museum formally debut to the public Saturday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. The first 100 people win free general admission to the museum for a year. Activities include a ribbon-cutting at 9 a.m., live music all day, family-friendly activities and solar observing (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) Details: www.scmuseum.org
