A walk in the park

HIKE WITH A RANGER: 9 a.m. Saturday at Sesquicentennial State Park, 9564 Two Notch Road. Guided 2-mile fitness hike for all ages; stroller-friendly. Meet at the park office and dress appropriately for being outdoors; insect repellent is recommended. Adults must accompany children 15 and younger. Free with park admission, $2, age 15 and older; discounts for S.C. residents 65 or older or disabled and to members of the S.C. National Guard. Registration deadline is Wednesday. JOHN WAGNER AND FRIENDS: 3 p.m. Sunday at the Newberry Opera House, 1201 McKibben St., Newberry. Concert will feature John Wagner, professor of music emeritus at Newberry College; Kimberlee Turnbough, piano instructor and staff accompanist at Newberry College; and Brenda Leonard, North Greenville University. The program will include works by Beethoven and Krzystof Penderecki and popular songs played in jazz style by Wagner, Shawn Hair, Jared Poole and Martin Giles. Free; a reception will follow.
