SHEPHERD’S CENTER OF COLUMBIA: Fall semester begins Wednesday at Trenholm Road UMC, 3401 Trenholm Road. Classes meet 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 5. New offerings include Behind the Scenes with local TV personalities; Myths, Truths and Rumors of the Civil War; Friedman’s Fables; This Life I Have Lived; and Operatic Surprises. Returning favorites are classic movies, short stories, handbells, WWII jazz and swing, travel trekking, creative writing, beginner and advanced classes in bridge, yoga, dulcimers, French, ukulele, acrylic and watercolor painting. $25 tuition for unlimited classes. SHRED EVENT: 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the SAFE Federal Credit Union, 65 Oswego Highway, Sumter. Accepting up to four boxes of personal documents to be shredded; also accepting monetary and non-perishable food donations for Harvest Hope Food Bank and Food for the Soul.
