Everyone knows that oysters will put you in the mood for … Christmas.
Get a taste of both on Sunday at the South Carolina Oyster Festival. The event will be at the Carolina Field House, 941 South Stadium Road, because of a rainy forecast.
Enjoy buckets of steamed oysters from Pearlz Oyster Bar, as well as fried oysters, oyster gumbo and several non-oyster food options. Beverage choices include a variety of beer and a wine garden.
Live entertainment is on tap throughout the day from bands including Mystic Vibrations, Moustache Brothers, Soul Mites, Josh McCaa, My Big Tomorrow, and Analog Moon. Several vendors will have their crafts and artwork for sale.
Guests are encouraged to bring gloves and oyster knives, though those items also are available for purchase.
Admission is $5 in advance and $10 at the gate, with children under 12 free. Admission does not include food and beverages. Advance tickets can be purchased at Pearlz Oyster Bar, the Robert Mills House gift shop and online at eventbrite.com.
Proceeds from the 19th annual event, hosted by Liquid Assets, will benefit Columbia Opportunity Resource and Pawmetto Lifeline.
Gates open at 11 a.m.
