If you’re looking for some interior inspiration this holiday season, there are two opportunities Sunday to see artfully decorated homes in the Columbia area.
The Shandon and Hollywood-Rose Hill neighborhoods will host their long-running Homes for the Holidays Tour from 2-6 p.m. This tour begins at Dreher High School and features seven homes in some of Columbia’s oldest neighborhoods. The historic homes are decked out in holiday finery.
The tour also features performances by classical guitarist Marina Alexandra and food from local vendors. Alexandra will be performing in the Rockerfellow home beginning at 3 p.m.
Tickets for the tour are $20 and available at Dreher High School at the start of the tour, or in advance at shandonneighborhood.com or hollywoodrosehill.org. Proceeds benefit the neighborhoods’ schools, A.C. Moore Elementary, Rosewood Elementary, Hand Middle School and Dreher High School, as well as other neighborhood projects.
Never miss a local story.
Across the river, the West Columbia Beautification Foundation is hosting Christmas on the River, its second annual holiday tour of homes and a reception at Stone River. Seven homes and luxury condominiums in Congaree Park and Bridgepointe Condominiums are featured on the tour.
“You can expect to see something that’s fairly elaborate (in each home),” said Melissa Sprouse Browne, chairwoman of the West Columbia Beautification Foundation. “Three or four of them have professional decorators come in.”
The tour of homes will be held from 2-6 p.m. and the reception at Stone River is from 5-8 p.m. The reception will feature music by Heart N Soul, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets for both events are $40 per person. Tickets for the tour of homes only are $25. Tickets will be available at Bridgepointe on Sunday.
