NEW YEAR’S DAY HIKE: 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at Camp Discovery, 208 Claude Bundrick Road, Blythewood. Members of the Midlands Master Naturalists Association will lead the nature hike for kids of all ages. A donation of $10 per family is suggested. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress warmly and bring a water bottle. Participants will make trail mix before the hike and enjoy hot cocoa after. UU COFFEEHOUSE: Celebrate the new year Saturday with a performance by old friends: Jack Williams, Susan Douglass Taylor, Cary Taylor and Danny Harlow. Doors open at 7 p.m.: music starts at 7:30 p.m. The listening room is located at 2701 Heyward St. (Heyward and Woodrow streets). Tickets are $20; you can order in advance by calling (803) 200-2824.

FAMILY, FRIENDS, FOOD AND FIREWORKS: Blythewood’s celebration of the new year is slated for 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Doko Meadows Park, 100 Alvina Hagood Circle. Special musical performances by Don Russo and Freeway Music, food and and beverage vendors include Scotty’s, Doko Smoke and Chuggers.
