Each year, more than 17,000 dogs and cats in Richland and Lexington counties go into animal shelters. Pawmetto Lifeline provides temporary safe havens, medical care, training and other services for these animals until they’re ready to be adopted into permanent homes.
On Saturday, March 14, Columbiana Centre and Pawmetto Lifeline will host Goodluck Pups, an event to celebrate the lucky pets that have been rescued from local shelters and are looking for their forever homes. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Columbiana Centre’s Belk Court.
If you’re looking to add a pet to your family, consider adopting a dog or cat from Pawmetto Lifeline or a local shelter. If you’re not sure, or don’t want the long-term responsibility of expanding your family, fostering an animal is a terrific middle ground. According to Taylor Wilson, who has fostered 12 different animals (and who is the director of marketing at Pawmetto Lifeline), here’s why you should consider fostering.
1. You’ll be saving a life.
2. It costs nothing: Pawmetto Lifeline provides food, medical care, a crate and all supplies.
3. Although most puppies and kittens are between 3 weeks and 6 months old, you can also foster older animals.
4. You’ll be matched with a case manager who you can call 24/7 with any issues you encounter.
5. Watching an animal change from scared to loving before your eyes is incredible.
