Augusta celebrates James Brown film in premiere (+ video)

The movie “Get On Up” [ click here to watch a trailer] officially opens Aug. 1, but SC fans of the late singer James Brown got an early viewing of the movie.
Hundreds came to Regal Cinemas in Augusta Thursday for a red carpet premiere of the film. Chadwick Boseman a native of Anderson, plays the Godfather of Soul in the movie.
Boseman and director Tate Taylor came to the premiere, as did many members of Brown's family. After the screening, fans gathered at the Augusta Museum of History to celebrate the film.
A New York premiere Monday drew celebrities, including the movie’s star, Chadwick Boseman, and was attended by Columbia accountant Russell Bauknight and David Washington, the longtime caretaker of Brown’s mansion in Beech Island.
In Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, stars watched the movie in a special screening at the Newseum.
