Palmero, Italy was the next stop for the remaining teams on "The Amazing Race."
Misti and Jim Raman, the Columbia dentists, won three previous legs and dodged elimination once. And they're beginning to get on the cyclists team's nerves. "They got nine lives," said Kym, one of the cyclists.
Nevertheless, the two teams cooperated on the trek from Morocco to Sicily.
In Sicily, the teams used go-karts to race the winding roads of Partenza, an age-old racing course that leads to Mount Pellegrino. Jim took the wheel and made the required time in his first run.
That gave the pair a distinct lead early in the race.
Next on the detour, the teams were given the choice of two tasks: help repaint part of the ceiling fresco at the Capella Sant' Antonio or memorize the costumes and roles of 10 opera singers.
The Ramans got on their backs to do some painting. Their attention to detail -- after all, they are dentists who work within millimeters -- allowed them to finish and get to the Pit Stop just ahead of Ali and Kym, the cyclists.
This was a non-elimination week.
