When you are smoking the “Amazing Race” competition, it’s easy to do it with a smile.
And Jim and Misti Raman, the Columbia dentists, have plenty to smile about.
The two with perfect teeth have dominated the reality show competition throughout the season; maybe it was that save card they got early on that guaranteed they would not be eliminated initially. The Columbia dentists then racked four first-place finishes.
Make that five. They came up on top Friday night.
The four remaining teams flew to the Manila, where the Ramans chose to assemble a Filipino sidecar, attached to motorbikes used to navigate the congested traffic.
Jim’s experience with assembling kids’ toys at Christmas and tools made him "a natural." But they were shocked to find their assembly wasn’t quite right. That put the two in last place.
The teams next found themselves in a soggy rice field, using an ox to find the next clue in the Filipino version of pluff mud.
Misti and Jim unearthed the clue quickly and made it to the Pit Stop. They won a trip to Vietnam.
Quote of the day, from both Jim and Misti: "We’re in a race to win a million dollars.”
