Teresa Guidry, who recently stepped into the national spotlight on NBC’s “The Voice,” first performed on stage as a student at Rock Hill’s Ebenezer Avenue Elementary School.
After being eliminated from the reality TV singing competition during Monday night’s episode, the 2012 Rock Hill High graduate showed up at Ebenezer Avenue Elementary on Wednesday to talk to students, answer questions and perform.
Guidry, 22, performed songs by Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and others and encouraged students to sing along during a one-hour visit with third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students in the library.
She also encouraged students to follow their dreams, saying her own signing aspirations may have seemed far-fetched, but she worked hard to make them happen.
Guidry, who grew up in Rock Hill and now lives in Nashville, Tenn., said she is scheduled to appear Thursday at Sullivan Middle School, where she also attended.
She said her next step will be to complete an extended play, to be released in the next few months.
