Exams have had local college students sequestered in libraries and study rooms. Elections have made for tense family holiday gatherings. Finding – and affording – the perfect Christmas gifts or making the perfect potato latkes for Hanukkah can be quite stressful.
Trustus Theatre has just the thing: an opportunity to laugh and get loaded on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Not necessarily in that order.
Loaded Late Night Sketch Comedy is back at Trustus, and the sketch comedy troupe is ready with new sketches, new characters and new laughs.
Never miss a local story.
“Trustus is excited that there’s new energy devoted to comedy here at the theater,” said Chad Henderson, artistic director at Trustus. “Martha Kelly is now the fearless leader of The Mothers, our sketch and improv team.”
Kelly studied and performed with Second City in Chicago and Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City.
“Loaded Late Nights are high-energy, edgy, fast-paced sketch shows. I think everyone needs a chance to kick back, have a beer and laugh their face off right now, especially with the stress of the holidays upon us,” Kelly said. “We’re definitely on Santa’s naughty list when it comes to content, but everybody knows that the nice list isn’t nearly as fun.
Trustus says audience members will giggle and guffaw for a little more than an hour, experiencing one of the most fun events in The Vista. The cash bar will be open throughout the show, and you can take your drinks to your seats.
The plan is to make these comedy shows regular, monthly events.
“I love that we’re able to produce these,” Henderson said. “Every real metropolis needs a comedy scene, so we’re excited to add some fuel to the fire that the standup scene has already tended here in Soda City.”
