Embrace and enjoy the music happening around the city Tuesday for Make Music Columbia.
Performances will be popping up all over town as part of a global celebration called Make Music Day. The event is back for a second year and is organized by One Columbia, Rice Music House and WXRY FM.
You have more than 50 opportunities to hear musicians play (for free) at 22 locations throughout the day. Some of the hot spots to hear some tunes will be the fountain in Five Points, Delaney’s Pub, Drip on Main Street and Village at Sandhill. Music ranges from rock to punk to classical to experimental jazz.
You also can get in on the action by participating in a sound circle with Girls Rock Columbia around 6 p.m. Tuesday at the State House steps. There also will be 100 harmonicas up for grabs, plus a free harmonica lesson at 6:30 p.m.
Never miss a local story.
Around 7:15 p.m., the Cola Ukulele Band will perform, so bring your own uke to play if you have one.
