It’s no secret that the Rock-n-Racquets tennis exhibition at Colonial Life Arena already has some big names booked for the “racquets” portion of the event. And now, there’s a big name for the “rock” part too: Gavin Rossdale.
Rossdale shot to fame in the 1990s as lead singer of the rock band Bush. Now a solo artist, he recently released his first album, “Wanderlust,” which features the hit single, “Love Remains the Same.”
Music fans also know Rossdale as husband of No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani.
Rock-n-Racquets, a tennis and music showcase presented by Newberry College, will be held Dec. 13 at Colonial Life Arena. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
The event will feature U.S. Open champions Andy Roddick and Serena Williams as well as rising stars John Isner and Caroline Wozniacki.
Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit the Andy Roddick Foundation, which raises funds to help children who have been abused or neglected or who suffer from a catastrophic illness.
Tickets for the event are $17 to $87 and can be purchased at the Colonial Life Arena box office, or by calling (866) 4SC-TIXX (472-8499). Tickets are also available at www.coloniallifearena.com.
