An overnight fire destroyed several units in The Club at Carolina Stadium, an apartment complex near Granby Park in Columbia. Thursday morning, workers were removing contents of the one of the apartments. Columbia firefighters are investigating the cause of a late-night fire at an Olympia apartment complex.
About 50 firefighters brought the fire under control by 2 a.m. Thursday, about two hours after it broke out, assistant fire chief Jamie Helms said.
No one was injured, with the Red Cross assisting residents affected.
All 24 units in a three-story building were damaged, with nine destroyed, Helms said. Damage is estimated at $325,000.
The apartments are on the Congaree River near the University of South Carolina’s baseball stadium TIM DOMINICK — tdominick@thestate.com Buy Photo
