- Finlandia Mango Vodka 80 Proof, Finland, $18 750 ml
This vodka has layers of juicy fresh mango in each sip. When you pour the vodka, you can smell the mango sweetness. All the flavors combine to make a tasty vodka, terrific on the rocks or in your next cocktail. For a little zest, try it with cranberry juice and a slice of mango as the garnish.
- 2007 Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon, California, $8
For a low-cost cabernet, this one hits on all cylinders. When the wine hits the mouth, the flavors flow into a full-bodied red with waves of black cherries, coffee and grape jam. The finish is supple. This cabernet will work with anything from hamburgers to steak.
- Kashmir India Pale Ale, Highland Brewing Co., Asheville, N.C., 5.6 percent alcohol, $7 per 6-pack
This beer has a beautiful hazy apricot color when you pour it into a glass. Aromas of sweet malted and caramelized citrus fruits fill the mouth with the first sip. The flavors were not overpowering and blended together perfectly. The bitterness was in check with the smooth body. This is a great beer that would work well with Asian dishes or subtle grilled menus.
