Smoak picked for Team USA

Former South Carolina first baseman Justin Smoak will play for Team USA at the World Cup later this year.

In three years at USC, Smoak set school records for home runs (62), RBIs (207), bases on balls (151) and total bases (485). He was a consensus first-team All-American his junior year in 2008 after batting .383 with 23 HR and 72 RBIs.

A first-round pick of the Texas Rangers, Smoak is in Triple-A with the Oklahoma City Redhawks.
