BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southeastern Conference men's and women's basketball tournaments will return to familiar venues over the next five seasons.
The league announced Wednesday that the men's tournament will be held at Nashville's Sommet Center in 2013 and in Atlanta's Georgia Dome the following season.
The men's tournament will be played in Nashville, Atlanta and New Orleans over the next three seasons. It has been held in Atlanta a dozen times, the latest in 2008. It was played in Nashville for the fifth time in 2006.
The women's tournament will return to the Sommet Center, which hosted in 2008, 2011 and 2012. The women's event will be played in 2010, 2013 and 2014 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga.
"The Southeastern Conference and its member institutions are excited to return to cities that have shown tremendous support of the SEC," Commissioner Mike Slive said. "Nashville, Atlanta and Duluth all have great facilities and enthusiastic communities that are perfect to showcase our basketball programs. We know that our student-athletes, coaches and fans will greatly enjoy return visits to all three areas."
