Richardson leads NCAA 110 hurdle qualifiers


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — South Carolina’s Jason Richardson was first overall in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries and teammate Booker Nunley was third at the NCAA championships on Thursday at the University of Arkansas.

Richardson finished the preliminaries in a time of 13.41 seconds, while Nunley finished in 13.69. Both won their preliminary heats.

USC’s Johnny Dutch was second in the 400 hurdles semifinals in 49.48 while teammate Antonio Salas was 11th in the 200 semifinals.

In one of the first finals of the championships, USC’s Jason Cook was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 60 feet, 6 inches.

In the women’s 200 meter preliminaries, Charleston Southern’s Dionne Gibson was 24th, Ikeiylah Brown of Coastal Carolina was 25th and Clemson’s Kristine Scott was 29th.
