Ward Plans Gamecock Commitment

Phil Kornblut

Speedy RB Trabis Ward (5-9 203) of Fort Lauderdale said Tuesday he's made a conditional commitment to USC. Ward, who has long favored the Gamecocks, said he will take the ACT December 13th, and once he gets his qualifying score, he will make an official commitment. "I plan to commit February 3rd to USC," said Ward who added that he has a commitable offer from USC recruiter Robert Gillespie. "Coach Gillespie said they'll take my commitment as soon as I pass the test. Me and coach Gillespie have been talking for a long time and he's always been truthful to me, and that's what I'm going with. I was watching the other day when they played Florida. They have a good offense. I can fill in the running back spot and make them a better team. We have a good defense at South Carolina, we just need to put up some points."

Ward said he's also getting interest from LSU, Ohio State, Florida and Florida State and they're talking about offering him once he gets his score. Ward has rushed for 1316 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, and has two more touchdowns receiving. He rushed for 1706 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior.
