Jackson bounces back for Gamecocks

Lakeem Jackson got off the schnide.
The highly touted freshman had nine points on Monday after going scoreless in his college debut three nights earlier. But it did not come easy.
Saddled with foul trouble, Jackson played seven minutes in the first half, making two free throws in the process. When he picked up his third early in the second half, he looked at the bench, only to have Horn wave him off and yell at him to "just play!"
It worked. A few minutes later Jackson made his first college field goal a couple minutes into the second half. It was a dunk.
"I was a little happy about that. Got the first-game jitters out of the way. I came back, got a little dunk, got going, played hard on D."
Jackson isn't being expected to score 15 points per game like Zam Frederick, the man he has replaced in the starting lineup. Jackson, a 6-foot-5 forward, isn't the shooter that Fredrick was, but he has a better all-around game.
"Just go out and do the little things. That's what (Horn) always says," Jackson said. "Just go out there, help the team out on defense, rebound, get some offensive rebounds, some defensive rebounds. Just play within the system."
