The team graduation rates of USC’s three main revenue producing men’s sports were above or near the national average for their sports in the NCAA’s Graduation Success Rates (GSR) report released Tuesday.
These GSR figures account for athletes who entered as freshmen between 1998 and 2001. Under GSR standards, athletes had six years to graduate.
USC was above the national rate in men’s basketball (69, four above the national average) and baseball (73, one above). The football team had a 65 percent GSR, one below the national average. The women’s basketball team’s rate was 64 percent, while the national average was 85.
The graduation rate of all USC athletes during the same period was 76 percent, 12 above the rate for all USC students.
