Three things to watch
1. The Gamecocks are coming off of a 31-point loss to No. 3 Stanford on Friday night in which they were out-rebounded by a 53-21 margin. The Cardinal duo of Jayne Appel and Kayla Pedersen combined for 30 rebounds, and Stanford held a 42-8 advantage on points in the paint. USC must find a way to get Demetress Adams involved more on the offensive end.
2. USC probably played its best half of the season during the first twenty minutes against Stanford. The Gamecocks trailed by six points with under a minute remaining before a 3-pointer made it a nine-point game at the break. Things broke down in the second half, and the Gamecocks made just five field goals and were dominated on the glass.
3. The South Carolina bench got a little thinner with the loss of Miranda Tate. The freshman is out against the 49ers and her left knee is still being evaluated. There is no time table for her return but USC only went seven deep for most of the game against Stanford.
Lakeisha Sutton, USC
The freshman has led the Gamecocks in scoring the past two games and has combined for 37 points in the two games. She has an uncanny ability to penetrate and create her shot when nothing else is available. She needs to continue that effort so teams can’t focus all their attention on seniors Adams and Brionna Dickerson.

BOTTOM LINE
Less than 48 hours after the shellacking at the hands of Stanford, USC must rebound against a solid Charlotte squad. With top-ranked Connecticut next, the Gamecocks need a win here to feel good about themselves going into that Dec. 28 game.
