Quarterback Stephen Garcia sprained his ankle Wednesday night during the championship game of a USC intramural basketball league, according to a source close to Garcia.
But before anyone panics, understand that the injury is not considered serious. Garcia, one of several football players on the hoops team, was said to be more upset about losing by a point than twisting his ankle.
USC coach Steve Spurrier, who said he was not aware of Garcia’s injury, generally does not have a problem with players competing in intramurals in the spring.
Former Gamecocks receiver Sidney Rice injured his wrist dunking in an intramural game a few years ago.
